Farol is a solutions company focusing on building electric mobility services since 2021. Farol offers off-the-shelf hardware and software for point-of-sale public charging hubs, as well tailored consultancy services for the emobility industry.

Creating a better public charging experience

Seeing and hearing about the same consistent pain points from EV drivers, including limited pricing information and complex payment processes during their EV charging experiences, Farol explored ways to improve the public EV charging landscape by combining expertise in software and EV payment hardware. Farol needed a reliable hardware partner to handle this side of the operation so they could focus on developing their software platform even further. That’s when Kuori, with its strong hardware capabilities, came into the picture.

Together, Farol and Kuori created an integrated solution, combining Farol’s software expertise with Kuori’s hardware capabilities. Kuori provided a robust payment kiosk designed specifically for EV chargers, which allowed drivers to pay on-site using a variety of methods including card payments, Google and Apple Pay. Importantly, the kiosk was designed to work without the need for any applications, making it convenient for users who can quickly pay, get a receipt, and get back on the road.

The user experience was further enhanced by features like the ability to conduct surveys at the point of sale (POS). This helped Farol gather valuable customer insights while providing a streamlined charging process for drivers. With the transition to Android as the operating system, Farol found that software development became even more manageable, enabling them to iterate and improve their platform efficiently.
